Plumpton Artist Collaborates with Network Rail
14th September 2017
When Network Rail commissioned Grant Dejonge to complete a giant installation of art at Plumpton Station, they had no idea how much interest the story would attract.
The commission of four large permanent murals, which go on display at the station on Saturday, is an apology to residents after the station’s level crossing was closed for months due to a dispute.
Modern Landscape artist Grant Dejonge who is also a Plumpton resident, was approached by Martin Nee from The Cube Gallery in Hassocks after he heard about the planned art installation from visitors to the gallery one weekend.
Martin said: “We are very excited to announce that we have been given a fantastic opportunity to work alongside Grant and Network Rail to bring you this art exhibition.
“Visitors will be able to follow Grant’s journey, from imagination to installation through a series of oil sketches, from conception to four final pieces.”
The exhibition opens on Saturday and runs daily until Sunday October 29. You can find The CUBE Gallery on the mezzanine level of the South Downs Heritage Centre.
