Jim Buttress to officially open museum

Jim Buttress will be officially opening The Budding Foundation Museum of Gardening on Saturday 30 July at the South Downs Heritage Centre. He will later also be signing copies of his book, 'The People's Gardener', during the afternoon.

Jim has won eight gold medals at RHS Chelsea and in recognition of his unrivalled contribution to horticulture, was awarded the highest accolade possible in the gardening world, the Victoria Medal of Honour (VMH), in 2006.

A popular speaker, he now devotes much of his time giving talks to audiences ranging from corporate after dinner speaking through to societies and clubs. He has never lost touch with grass roots and actively supports schools and local projects in spreading his joy of gardening.

Jim has appeared on television and is well known for his role as a judge on The Great Allotment Challenge. He is a regular radio presenter and appears on BBC Radio Sussex/Surrey's 'Dig It'.

Jim will be officially opening the Heritage Centre at 11:15 and will be signing his book 'The People's Gardener' from 2pm.
